Know the warning signs

When to see a dietitian

Diet plays a vital role in keeping you healthy and avoiding symptoms. So, anyone can benefit from seeing a dietitian. But if you experience any of the following criteria, you should consult a dietitian.

Symptoms checklist

If you need to gain or lose weight

Losing weight is really challenging. So if you are looking to meet your nutritional goals as quickly as possible, a registered dietitian can thoughtfully and effectively help you develop a healthy restricted-calorie eating plan. On the other hand, if you need to gain weight, make an appointment with a registered dietitian to develop an eating plan containing additional calorie sources for healthy weight gain.

If you have Diabetes, Cardiovascular Problems or High Blood Pressure

Health problems such as diabetes or cardiovascular problems require being aware of what you should eat. So it is better to consult a dietitian to help you safely determine your eating plan without compromising taste or nutrition.

If you have had Gastric Bypass Surgery

After a gastric bypass surgery, it’s a challenge to safely get the right amount of nutrients in your body. A dietitian will work with you and your physician to make an eating plan for your new needs.

If you have Digestive Problems

A registered dietitian nutritionist will work with you and your physician to develop your personalized nutrition plan, manage your symptoms, minimize the side effects, improve your nutrition, and stabilize your weight.

If you're Pregnant or trying to Get Pregnant

Certain nutrients such as folate, calcium and iron are recommended to get a healthy pregnancy especially during the first three months of pregnancy. So a registered dietitian can help you to implement a healthy pregnancy eating plan to ensure getting your body requirements.

Severely decreased appetite or increased appetite

If you’re noticing serious changes in your hunger levels, this could be warning signs that something is up. So consulting a dietitian is a good place to start.
