Symptom Checklist

• Chronic cough
  A cough that you have had for a month or longer is considered chronic. This is an important early symptom that tells you something is wrong with your respiratory system
• Shortness of breath
  It’s unhealthy to experience persistent shortness of breath after exercise or after little or no exertion. Labored or difficult breathing—the feeling that it is hard to breathe in out—is considered also one of the warning signs.
• Chronic mucus production
  Mucus, also called sputum, is a natural defense against infections or irritants and it is produced by the airways. If you experience persistent productive cough _mucus production has lasted a month or longer_ this could indicate lung disease
• Wheezing
  Noisy breathing is a warning sign which indicates that something is blocking your respiratory tract or making it too narrow
• Coughing up blood (hemoptysis):
  coughing up blood can originate you’re your respiratory tract or your lungs. Wherever it’s coming from, it may be a sign of serious lung disease
• Chronic chest pain
  unidentified chest pain especially if it gets worse with cough or breathing _one of the warning signs

Treatment & Procedures

Your physician may order some tests as listed below:

Treatments that may be recommended during your visit:

• Menulizer (Breathing treatment)
  A nebulizer is a small plastic bowl with a screw-top lid and a source for compressed air. The air flow to the nebulizer changes the medication solution to a mist. When inhaled, the medication has a better chance to reach small airways which increases the medication’s effectiveness.
• IV Steroid treatment (Intravenous)
  Medication is administered directly into the vein.
• IM steroid treatment (Intermuscular)
  Medication is administered directly into the muscle.

Procedures that may be recommended during your visit:

• Spirometry
  Spirometry loosely means measurement of breath. It is one the most recommended problems, Basically, it measures the lung functions in terms of the flow and volume of air that you inhale and exhale. The data is achieved from the test is referred to as pneumotachographs which are used in the diagnosis and assessment of certain conditions like bronchitis, asthma, emphysema, fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
• Thoracentesis (Lung Tap)
  A procedure to remove fluid from the space between the lining of the outside of the lungs (pleura) and the wall of the chest, usually collected through a needle inserted through the chest wall. This test helps determine the cause of excess fluid in the lung cavity and relieves related shortness of breath and pain. Testing is scheduled and performed during your hospital visit
• Bronchoscopy
  Bronchoscopy is a diagnostic procedure in which a tube with a tiny camera on the end is inserted through the nose or mouth into the lungs. The procedure provides a view of the airways of the lung and allows doctors to collect lung secretions or tissue specimens
• Pulmonary Function Test
  A specialized breathing test that is usually done in ambulatory centre. The test measures how well the lungs take in and exhale air and how efficiently they transfer oxygen into the blood
